Mastery Insights

Mastery Insights give you a snapshot of how students performed academically in class over a chosen date range, so you can quickly gauge proficiency and decide if your class is ready to move on.

Before you start, set your Targets. Mastery Insights uses them to surface below-target standards and questions to reteach. See Insights: My Targets.

Navigating Mastery Insights

  1. Go to the Insights page.
  2. Select the date range you want to review.
  3. To focus on specific classes, click Filters and select them.
  4. Scroll to the Mastery Insights section, or jump to it by selecting the graduation cap icon in the right-side menu.

Mastery Insights includes three sections: Mastery by Class, Standards to Reteach, and Most Missed Questions

Understanding Mastery by Class

First, you’ll see the cumulative mastery across all your classes and for each individual class over the selected date range. The mastery percentage is calculated by dividing the total number of correct mastery responses by the total number of mastery responses received during that period.

  • Note: percentages in green meet your personalized mastery target; percentages in black are off target.

Understanding Standards to Reteach

Second, you’ll see the Standards to Reteach: all standards you tagged to a mastery question during the selected date range where cumulative mastery fell below your target.

  • Tip: Click a standard to see its most missed mastery questions. See Understanding Most Missed Questions for more information.

Understanding Most Missed Questions

Third, you’ll see Most Missed Questions: all mastery questions where cumulative mastery fell below your target during the selected date range. Questions are ordered from lowest to highest performance, so the ones needing the most attention appear first.

To get more information about a missed question, click the question. A window will open with summary information, including the number of correct, incorrect, and unscored answers; the students who missed the question; and the exit ticket summary data.

From the pop-up window, you can also:

  • Click the question to create a new exit ticket so your class can redo it.
  • Click the date to open the exit ticket summary and view more granular information.
  • Click a student’s name to open their summary.
