Understanding and Responding to Fast Feedback Insights

What can I learn from the Fast Feedback Insights Summary?

 

One of the most important strategies for integrating data into practice is to recognize patterns and identify when those patterns change. This is true no matter which of the visuals you are focused on. Make these questions part of your routine to understand and respond to whatever data you are viewing:

  • What is typical? 
  • When do I notice a difference from what is typical? 

 

 

What these visuals can tell me:

  • the number of my classes I gave feedback to on the previous day, based on the class, criteria, and student filters applied 
  • the percent of my students who received feedback from me yesterday

What this visual cannot tell me:

  • what level or type of feedback I gave to students and classes 
  • alerts or areas of concern about specific student or class needs

Engage with the data:

  • What is my goal threshold for giving feedback? In other words, what percent of classes am I aiming to give feedback to?
  • What percent of students am I aiming to provide feedback to?

Reflect on practice:

  • What do I now understand about my feedback practices yesterday? If the data was lower than my goal, how can I become more consistent in my practices?
  • How does this inform my approach to giving feedback today or tomorrow?
