Understanding and Responding to Fast Feedback Insights

What can I learn from the Daily Fast Feedback by Class Insight?

 

One of the most important strategies for integrating data into practice is to recognize patterns and identify when those patterns change. This is true no matter which of the visuals you are focused on. Make these questions part of your routine to understand and respond to whatever data you are viewing:

  • What is typical? 
  • When do I notice a difference from what is typical? 

 

 

What this visual can tell me:

  • the number of times I gave feedback to each class each day across the selected date range
  • the average daily score for the feedback I gave each class (on a scale of 1-4)
  • whether there were some classes that I didn’t give feedback to across the selected date range
  • when filtered to a specific criteria, this same information for that specific criteria

What this visual cannot tell me:

  • data for individual students
  • alerts or areas of concern about specific students

 

Engage with the data:

  • Which of my classes has the highest number of feedback sessions each day? The lowest? 
  • Is there one class that has an average score much higher or lower than the others?
  • How do the average scores for each day change over the selected date range? 

Reflect on practice:

  • Is this what I expected to see?
  • How might these differences inform my approach to giving feedback over the next week?
  • How might these differences inform my lesson plans or the classroom routines I’ve set up?
  • How can I connect this to the different needs or strengths of my classes?
