Weekly Exit Ticket Data Protocol

Suggested use:

  • It is suggested that teachers complete this weekly during PL Time and share with their peers/ Dept. teams, and Instructional Leader.  This should be a reflection document that helps to inform teacher planning documents (objective calendars/ weekly plans).
  • School leaders can modify this as necessary for weekly PL/ PD Time

🎯 Step 1:  Assess:  What does the data tell me?

  1. What do I notice about how my students evaluated their level of engagement for the week?
  2. What do I notice about how my students evaluated their level of challenge for the week?
  3. What do I notice about student learning outcomes for the week?
  4. Is any of this data surprising to you? Why/ why not?

🤔 Step 2:  Analyze:  Why do you think students respond the way they did?

  1. What are the actions you took as a teacher that contributed to higher or lower levels of student engagement?
  2. What are the actions you took as a teacher that contributed to the level of challenge?
  3. What are the actions you took as a teacher that contributed to student learning/ gaps in student learning?
  4. What student misconceptions do you still see in this data?

⚡Step 3:   Act:  What will I do with this information?

After reflecting on these questions below, teachers should update their objective calendars/ planning documents to plan their reteaching/ spiraling.

  1. What skills are high priority to address in the next two weeks to re-teach/ spiral?
  2. How will I approach my instruction to drive strong(er) levels of engagement in my upcoming lessons?
  3. How will I approach my instruction to drive appropriate levels of challenge in my upcoming lessons?
  4. How will I know these instructional moves are effective?  By when?
